CalPERS Eyeing Overseas Real Estate
IPE Real Estate reports ...• The California Public Employees Retirement System is thinking of expanding overseas and moving its international real estate allocation from its current 20% level to a 50% weighting.
• ... the pension fund feels it is a part of the real estate investment world which should not be ignored.
• One of the major reasons CalPERS is now considering a growth of its international platform is real estate investment returns are not currently as strong in the United States and officials believe there are no indication this will change anytime soon.

Firex and others are down. Is it time to buy more? Overall the market is not even 'down' for the year in spite of people calling it a 'correction'! Yes, it's corrected from a double digit ytd return to a low single digit one at this time. A true correction to me would be more of a double digit loss on the index for the year, not from a positive double digit return.

Buy more? No, not for you. In fact, since you follow modern portfolio theory and rebalance from time to time, I would think that you would be happy just maintaining the position you have. Don't let it get too big.
btw, the twins are wonderful!
Only FIREX is down ytd by about 6%.
We're dollar cost averaging in after selling off a little. I do like it for the long haul like Calpers.
I don't understand why everyone looks at this '10% correction' as some major event! All the averages are in positive territory for the year. What type of losses have been taken?
Have they 'lost' their profits?
Is this capitulation? I think not!
Now if the averages were a minus 10-15% in the year similar to after the tech wreck this may be a bear market rather than a 'correction'
So, is this a correction or the beginning of a bear market. Marc Faber and others think it's the beginning of a bear market!
Thanks for the nice words about the twins. They're becoming more of a handful (and only 6 years old!)

Makes for good TV? It's about the traders vs the investors.
